Cycle Day 2: The Bulls Slipped on the Soap

The market opened exactly as advertised.

The 7480 Line in the Sand held overnight, buyers defended the lows, and ES methodically worked its way to fulfill the PTG 7525 RTH objective before stretching into the higher target zone.

Then…

The afternoon belonged to the sellers.

What began as a textbook Cycle Day 2 continuation quietly evolved into a late-session reversal that left the Bulls limping into tomorrow.

As I mentioned during the final hour…

“The Bulls slipped on the soap and dislocated a hip.”

Not fatal…

But they’ll definitely be walking with a limp heading into Cycle Day 3.

📈 What Happened Today

The overnight session couldn’t have respected the PTG roadmap much better.

  • ✅ 7480 Line in the Sand held
  • ✅ 7525 target fulfilled
  • ✅ Gap Fill completed
  • ✅ Premium Short reached Target #2
  • ✅ Midday balance developed between 7510-7530

After lunch…

Momentum quietly evaporated.

By the final hour:

  • Bulls lost control
  • Sellers pressed price back toward the prior Cycle Day 1 low
  • Technology stocks led the selling pressure
  • MOC Sell Imbalance printed -$4.8 Billion

The close in the lower quartile of the session changes tomorrow’s character considerably.

🧠 PTG Tactical Review

Today’s session offered both sides of the trading coin.

Morning

Patience rewarded disciplined traders.

The A4 Long, Gap Fill, and subsequent Premium Short all played directly from the PTG playbook.

No guessing.

Just execution.

Afternoon

Once buyers failed to defend the 7495-7498 reclaim zone…

the tone changed.

Late-day weakness forced participants to ask an important question:

Was today’s selling simply inventory adjustment…

or the beginning of something larger?

Tomorrow should provide that answer.

🔄 Cycle Day 3 Outlook

Cycle Day 3 now arrives with considerably more uncertainty than it possessed this morning.

Closing near the session lows rarely puts bulls in a position of strength.

The market repeatedly tested the Cycle Day 1 Low (7473) throughout the afternoon.

As mentioned live:

“Test it too many times and it becomes a has-been.”

Markets have a habit of weakening support through repetition.

Each additional test removes willing buyers.

Should sellers push beneath today’s support…

expect stops to begin fueling volatility.

Conversely…

if buyers can reclaim today’s lost ground early…

today’s weakness may simply prove to have been an aggressive shakeout before earnings season accelerates.

💻 Earnings Now Take Center Stage

Attention shifts toward one of the largest earnings weeks of the quarter.

This week’s reports include:

  • Alphabet
  • Tesla
  • IBM
  • Intel

Technology has been carrying this market higher for months.

Ironically…

Technology also dominated today’s sell imbalance.

The generals are now approaching the battlefield.

💬 PTG Perspective

Markets don’t ring bells at turning points.

They whisper.

Today’s late-session deterioration wasn’t confirmation of a trend change…

but it certainly got everyone’s attention.

Cycle Day 3 now becomes less about chasing direction…

and more about discovering whether institutional buyers still possess the appetite to defend weakness.

As always…

Trade what price is doing…not what you hope it should do.

See everyone in the morning.
