🩸 Cycle Day 2 — The Bulls Get a Financial Colonoscopy

Well, well, well…

What a difference 24 hours makes!

Yesterday, the Bulls were celebrating a spectacular 275-handle midterm-election knee-jerk rally, popping champagne, high-fiving one another, and making reservations for the next leg higher.

Today?

The champagne went flat, the party guests disappeared, and somebody handed the Bulls the bill.

Apparently, Mr. Market has a strict return policy:

ALL GAINS SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE REPOSSESSION!

And repossess them he did.

What began as a routine Cycle Day 2 session quickly transformed into a full-blown liquidation event, with technology stocks leading the stampede toward the exits.

The AI trade was getting dismantled, volatility was exploding, and the post-election celebration was officially canceled.

Reuters reported a broad semiconductor-led selloff, with investors reassessing AI infrastructure spending, valuations, and the political landscape.

As we affectionately called it in the Trading Room:

THE BLACK & BLUE TSUNAMI!

Not exactly the Red Wave some were expecting.

But RED nonetheless.

And plenty of it!

🔴 Morning Session — The Bear Script Gets Unleashed

Our preplanned Bear Scenario was straightforward:

Acceptance Below 7712 ±5

Downside objectives:

7705 → 7695 → 7685

Nothing complicated.

No mystical interpretation of the stars.

No consultation with Madame Zelda’s Magic Crystal Ball.

Just good old-fashioned price acceptance and directional alignment.

And once the Bears secured control?

KATIE, BAR THE DOOR!

Those initial downside targets were dispatched faster than free donuts at a Weight Watchers convention.

By 9:47 AM, the Nasdaq-100 was already down approximately 3%, with the S&P 500 losing 1.3%.

And the selling pressure was accelerating.

Yesterday’s rally had plenty of real estate underneath it, and the Bears apparently decided to conduct a complete property inspection.

Every floor. Every basement. Every crawl space.

No support level was entitled to diplomatic immunity.

📉 Statistical Extremes — Minus Three Sigma and Counting!

As liquidation intensified, several important statistical and structural references came into focus.

The ES reached the 7572 minus-three-sigma level, based on Rich Handel’s statistical work.

We also monitored the 7580–7585 retracement zone and the broader 7625 region.

These weren’t invitations to blindly buy.

They were reference points for evaluating potential stabilization, exhaustion, and reversal behavior.

Because here’s a little secret about extreme markets:

Oversold can become MORE oversold.

And just because something has fallen 200 handles doesn’t mean it can’t fall another 100.

The market doesn’t care about your average entry.

It doesn’t care about your margin balance.

And it most certainly doesn’t care that your favorite oscillator has been screaming OVERSOLD since breakfast.

The market can remain irrational longer than your trading account can remain solvent.

Meanwhile, the VIX was surging toward and above 27, reflecting a sharp increase in market anxiety.

Translation?

The Fear Monster wasn’t merely knocking at the door.

He had kicked it off the hinges and was helping himself to everything in the refrigerator.

🎯 D-Level Money Box — Precision in the Middle of Pandemonium

Now here’s where things got particularly interesting.

Despite the extraordinary liquidation pressure, our D-Level Money Box (DLMB) continued to provide important structural references.

First came MB1, where price began exhibiting stabilization characteristics.

Then came MB2.

And wouldn’t you know it…

TO THE TICK!

You simply cannot make this stuff up.

While the financial media was busy explaining why the sky was falling, the Money Box was quietly doing what it was designed to do.

Identify meaningful zones where price may respond.

Not predict the future.

Not guarantee a reversal.

Just provide a disciplined framework for making decisions.

As DanV correctly noted, the DLMB continued doing its job, with its last invalidation dating back to September 23.

The Money Box doesn’t watch CNBC.

It doesn’t care who won the election.

And apparently, it didn’t receive the memo that today was supposed to be impossible to trade.

Beautiful work!

🖥️ NinjaTrader Joins the Circus

Of course, no historic volatility event would be complete without a little technological entertainment.

As the market accelerated, several members reported difficulties with NinjaTrader.

Bruce F summed it up nicely:

NT does not behave in big moves.

Manny reported being unable to get the platform running for approximately 15 minutes.

Wonderful.

The market is moving at warp speed.

Stops are critical.

Risk is expanding.

And your trading platform decides it’s time for a coffee break.

Nothing inspires confidence quite like watching your trading software contemplate the meaning of life while the Nasdaq is falling out of bed.

Another reminder that platform reliability and contingency planning are not optional luxuries.

They’re part of risk management.

🌭 The Smartest Trader in the Room? The Guy Eating a Hotdog!

At 10:43 AM, we issued perhaps the most important statement of the entire session:

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TRADE THIS MARKET!

Read that again.

There is no exchange rule requiring traders to participate in every volatility explosion.

There is no special medal awarded for catching the exact low.

And there is certainly no prize for donating your account to the Market Gods.

Which brings us to our favorite character of the day.

The PTG trader calmly sitting in the stands, eating a hotdog while the trading pits descend into absolute chaos.

While everyone else was frantically buying, selling, reversing, stopping out, and questioning their career choices…

Our guy was enjoying lunch.

Maybe some mustard.

A little relish.

Perhaps a cold beverage.

Account intact. Blood pressure normal. Hotdog delicious.

Now THAT is capital preservation!

Sometimes the best trade is the one you never take.

And sometimes the most valuable position is simply FLAT.

🥊 Afternoon Session — Joe Frazier Attempts a Comeback

After the morning’s liquidation avalanche, price finally began showing signs of stabilization.

But stabilization is not the same thing as reversal.

There were still plenty of trapped longs looking for an exit.

And not necessarily enough committed shorts to create the kind of sustained squeeze the Bulls desperately needed.

By early afternoon, the market was probing lower structural references, with the July low entering the discussion.

Poor Joe Frazier.

He had already taken several punches.

And Mr. Market wasn’t exactly showing much interest in stopping the fight.

Then, at 2:43 PM, we outlined a conditional recovery scenario:

IF Bulls Clear & Convert 7440, THEN a squeeze toward 7455 becomes possible.

And wouldn’t you know it…

The Bulls delivered!

Price broke above 7440 and rallied toward 7455, fulfilling the outlined upside objective.

For one brief, glorious moment, the Bull Camp could breathe again.

The crowd cheered.

Joe Frazier got off the canvas.

Somebody even thought about ordering another round.

But there was one small problem.

THE BULLS FORGOT TO BRING THE FOLLOW-THROUGH!

The 7455 region became a key resistance reference and High Volume Node.

A more meaningful recovery would have required reclaiming the prior low at 7490.

That never materialized.

Instead, the bounce faded and sellers returned.

Joe Frazier got back up… only to discover Mike Tyson had entered the ring!

🔔 Closing Bell — Margin Call Madness!

By 3:08 PM, we had already identified the potential for renewed liquidation into the close.

MARGIN CALL TIME!

And the market was more than happy to oblige.

New lows began developing as the afternoon recovery unraveled.

Then came the Market-on-Close imbalance.

Initially:

$1.9 BILLION TO BUY

Aha!

Perhaps the cavalry was coming!

Perhaps the Bulls would receive a last-minute reprieve!

Perhaps Joe Frazier could survive the final round!

Not so fast, Sparky.

The imbalance subsequently flipped to:

$4.5 BILLION TO SELL

That’s a whopping $6.4 BILLION directional swing in the reported imbalance.

Talk about a change of heart.

Apparently, the closing auction decided the Bulls hadn’t suffered quite enough.

And by the final minutes, ES was closing near its session lows.

As slatitude39 observed, the market was finishing in the lower fourth of the sandbox.

Poor Frazier indeed.

Yesterday’s rally?

Gone.

Today’s recovery attempts?

Rejected.

Bullish enthusiasm?

LAST SEEN RUNNING SOUTHBOUND WITHOUT A FORWARDING ADDRESS.

📊 Key Technical Levels for the Next Session

ES Reference Tactical significance
7712 ±5 Original bearish acceptance pivot
7580–7585 Referenced retracement zone
7572 Minus-three-sigma extreme
7490 Prior low / recovery reference
7455 D-Level and High Volume Node resistance
7440 Afternoon breakout / squeeze trigger
7182.50 Posted ES limit-down reference for today’s session

Going forward, the important question is whether buyers can establish meaningful acceptance above the newly identified resistance references or whether rallies continue attracting liquidation.

A bounce is not a trend reversal.

A green candle is not a marriage proposal.

And one successful breakout does not automatically mean the Bulls have regained control.

PRICE MUST PROVE IT!

🧠 PTG Trading Lesson — Alignment Beats Prediction

Today was a powerful demonstration of why our Primary Directive remains the foundation of the PTG methodology:

STAY IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE DOMINANT DIRECTIONAL FORCE!

We don’t need to predict every tick.

We don’t need to identify the precise high or low.

And we certainly don’t need to challenge a freight train because an oscillator looks tired.

Our responsibility is to develop scenarios, identify high-probability opportunities, and execute with discipline.

Alignment → Assignment → Attack.

Triple-A Setups.

Hard exchange stops.

Controlled position sizing.

No emotional revenge trading.

And when conditions become disorderly?

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with joining our hotdog-eating friend in the stands.

Because trading is not about proving how brave you are.

It’s about surviving long enough to exploit the next legitimate opportunity.

🏁 Final Thoughts — The Day the Elevator Cable Snapped

Today’s Cycle Day 2 delivered a powerful reminder of just how quickly market psychology can change.

One day, everyone is celebrating a spectacular rally.

The next day, they’re looking for the emergency exits.

The AI trade gets hammered.

Volatility explodes.

Platforms misbehave.

Money Boxes provide critical reference zones.

And the Bulls spend the afternoon trying to remember where they left their dignity.

The Bulls brought the Hopium.

The Bears brought the demolition equipment.

The Market brought the Black & Blue Tsunami.

And the PTG trader?

He brought a hotdog.

Guess who had the lowest stress level?

Remember, folks:

Markets reward discipline, not desperation.

Respect the levels. Respect the probabilities. Respect the risk.

And above all…

REMOVE THE HUMAN VARIABLE!

Because Mr. Market doesn’t care about your feelings.

He just wants to know whether you remembered to place your stop.

HAGEE! 👊
